Sedation is practiced widely across many different departments with variation in training and practice. This symposium will provide a forum to discuss the formalization of an adequate training credentialing program and to assess current institutional practices. Topics of discussion will address results from past sedation program surveys, challenging case reports followed by a panel discussion surrounding quality improvement.
At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Identify common and varying sedation practices across different clinical realms
- Recognize limitation of safe sedation within their specific sub-specialty and practice
- Distinguish levels sedation and how to determine which medications and monitors would be needed for the desired outcome
