Leadership Institute July 16-19, 2012
Colorado
Welcome to Colorado! If you are able to extend your stay, we encourage you to visit the Colorado Travel and Tourism Web site for information on things to see and do in the area as well as road and activity maps. There is also local information available on the Web site for the City of Colorado Springs. For area news, visit KKTV, Colorado Spring's local CBS affiliate.
The Nature Place
The Nature Place is situated on 6,000 acres of forest, at an altitude of 8,600 feet. Each attendee will have his/her own private room with log fireplace, private bathroom and kitchenette facilities. There are four rooms to a lodge. There is one main lodge where the office, dining room, game room, library and telephone/computer room are located. In addition to outdoor activities, there is a sportsplex at your disposal, which houses the swimming pool, jacuzzi, exercise room and basketball court.
There are no individual phones in the rooms, so you will need a credit card or phone card (available for purchase in the office) to make your calls. Cell phones, for the most part, do not work at this location. Wireless Internet is available in all buildings and around the main campus.
Airport
Colorado Springs Airport (airport code COS) is approximately one hour and 15 minutes (1:15) from The Nature Place. You should plan to arrive at the airport by 11:30 a.m. Monday and depart any time Friday, as the program will conclude at 7:00 p.m. Thursday. We are happy to arrange ground transportation to/from The Nature Place for you. Please notify the program coordinator of your flight/travel itinerary as soon as possible. If you have business before or after the course and would like to rent a car and drive to The Nature Place, you can click here for a map from Colorado Springs.
Dress code
Most of the week will be spent indoors in a relaxed classroom/group style of learning environment; however some of the activities are held outdoors, so bring comfortable clothes. In the summertime, jeans and shorts, hiking boots and tennis shoes, caps and a lightweight jacket are the order of the week. In the winter, jeans, hats and gloves, a warm jacket and sweaters are appropriate. Mornings and evenings can be quite cool, while daytime temperatures can be very warm. We recommend that you dress in layers, as the temperatures can vary any time of year. In addition, before you pack, it is a good idea to check the weather in the area for the week you will be here.
Work
Your time at the Institute will be very full, with little free time. We encourage you to leave your "to-do" list at the office and focus your energy on leadership during the Institute.
What Costs Will Be Incurred
Your registration fee of $8,200 includes tuition, lodging and all meals beginning with lunch upon your arrival and ending with breakfast on Friday.
In addition, we will provide ground transportation between the Colorado Springs Airport and The Nature Place. If you have not already done so, please provide your travel itinerary to the program coordinator.
