Opening Your Staff' "Waste Eyes" with Waste Walks/Lean Walks Linda Dodge and Janell Vickers are Lean Six Sigma Black Belts from Catholic Health Partners (CHP). They will share their experiences utlizing Waste Walks/Lean Walks in hospital settings and physician practices. The practice opens the “Waste Eyes” of the front line staff who are impacted by the changes created through operational excellence. The outcome of these walks are staff members who become engaged in waste elimination simply because they have been taught how to see waste. Linda Dodge began in health care 28 years ago as a Registered Respiratory Therapist. In her tenure with the Respiratory Therapy Program served in many capacities. She developed the ABG Lab and served as Coordinator, a Team Leader for the Respiratory Staff, Served as interim manager for a period of 6 months, then built the Tobacco Cessation Program and became a Master Level Tobacco Treatment Specialist. She also worked in the EEG department as a technician and performed cardiac stress testing. She obtained her MBA from Tiffin University and then promoted into the Operational Excellence Program as the Black Belt/Lean Facilitator. She is a Certified Lean Leader and is trained in Six Sigma. She currently serves on the Advisor Counsel for the Health Value Network and is one of the founding members of the Northwest Ohio Lean Six Sigma Collaborative. She recently completed training in the Shingo Model and looks forward to utilizing the key learning’s to further the Lean journey. In her spare time she serves on the leadership team for Royal Family Kids Camp and has for the last 8 years. Janell Vickers has been with CHP the last 5+ years -focused the last 2+ years on improving about 110 physician practices with Lean. She was Project Manager-Transformation Specialist, CHP IT 3 years prior to this - managing health care projects involving new applications, application deployments, system upgrades, strategy planning and interface projects. She had been in manufacturing at Owens Corning for 32 years in a variety of Management / Analytical / Process roles with her last years there focused on improving Supply Chain processes with Six Sigma projects. She obtained her MBA and BS from BGSU; completed certification in Six Sigma, Lean, Project Management and as a Computing Professional. She had spent 12 years in professional leadership roles with Association for Systems Management (ASM). She was a top ten volunteer for 2 years at Owens-Corning.
