This course is designed for those who install erosion and sediment control on construction sites. The course emphasizes the function and proper installation of best management practices used by NCDOT to minimize or control erosion and sedimentation. Also covered are the basics of soil erosion, vegetation establishment, and stream restoration. Additional subjects will include implementation of erosion/sediment control plans, requirements of various regulatory agencies, and consequences of permit violations.
This training is for:
DOT/CEI Personnel: NCDOT and CEI personnel inspecting seeding, mulching, silt fence placement, topsoil placement, erosion control blanket installation, riprap placement, inlet protection, culvert installations in water bodies and embankment construction near rivers, lakes, and streams.
Contractors: Crew member of turf establishment/seeding contractor, grading contractor and bridge personnel installing temporary erosion and sediment control/stormwater devices.
If you have previously been certified at Level I, and have changed employers, you do NOT need to take the initial Level I training again. Your certification stays with you when you change jobs. Register for Level I-R (Recertification) at the appropriate time for your renewal.
