This program is designed for the nurse-midwife, nurse practitioner, physician assistant or other medical professional who has limited or no formal training in diagnostic ultrasound and wishes to learn the basic concepts of limited ultrasound applications in Obstetrics.Upon completion of this program the participants should be able to demonstrate improved ability to:Basic Ultrasound Physics & Instrumentation•Describe and apply basic ultrasound principles and instrumentationGynecology•Describe normal pelvic anatomy and its representation on ultrasound images•Describe the indications and guidelines for limited OB/GYN ultrasound examinations•Describe the basic techniques for performing transvaginal exam1st Trimester Pregnancy•Describe normal 1st trimester development•List and describe ultrasound measurements for 1st trimester pregnancy•Identify sonographic features of early pregnancy failure2nd & 3rd Trimester Pregnancy•Recognize normal fetal anatomy from ultrasound scans•Discuss the sonographic parameters for estimating gestational age•Describe the technical factors for evaluating conditions that affect the cervix•Describe techniques for assessing amniotic fluid volume•Describe techniques for evaluating fetal well-being (BPP)This program is approved by the ACNM for 1.175 CEUs. This program is approved for 16 hours of AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™.
