Overview: The Covid-19 pandemic stimulated innovation in order to continue to provide access to mental health care to children, youth & families. As a result of current quarantine orders, there has been rapid implementation of virtual health solutions for children, youth & families in a variety of clinical contexts. In this session we highlight and discuss practical considerations for clinicians offering direct-to-client virtual mental health care for children, youth and families. There will be opportunity for discussion and sharing of experiences as we all work together to navigate new territory.

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Describe criteria for providing direct-to-patient/client virtual mental healthcare;
  • Discuss challenges and considerations for direct-to-patient/client mental healthcare for children, youth & their families; and
  • Apply the knowledge they have acquired from the session to their clinical practice.
