Tom Horton and Dave Harp present: Beautiful Swimmers Revisited,
film highlights and a discussion
Photographer Dave Harp and author Tom Horton joined forces to create a documentary as a
follow up to the book Beautiful Swimmers which was published 40 years ago. Join Dave and
Tom for a personalized screening of excerpts of the film accompanied by a lecture and
discussion highlighting their collaboration, the embodiment of science and art in environmental
education. Owens Amphitheater, Sheraton, seating is limited.

Star Party with Greg Mort
A rare opportunity for up to 50 people on Friday evening. Join Greg Mort at the Goucher
Observatory for a “Star Party.” Mort will continue to amaze by weaving art with nature and
astronomy. Guests will be welcomed into the campus observatory to experience the winter sky
with the artist’s expert guidance. Mort was recruited by NASA for its “American Artist and the
Space Shuttle” program in 1983. In this first of many NASA commissions he portrayed Sally
Ride’s historic STS 7 shuttle flight in a series of powerful watercolors that are now on display at
Cape Canaveral. His eloquent visions of the night sky have been featured worldwide in the
Smithsonian’s traveling exhibition “The Artist and the Space Shuttle,” as well as in numerous
magazines and books including Carl Sagan’s Pale Blue Dot, which features Mort’s The Fabric of
