    Coding contractors provide a valuable resource for health care facilities who may not always have the necessary internal resources to code all specialty lines. There is due diligence, however, incumbent on all organizations who utilize coding contractors, as health care facilities are responsible for the integrity of coding information coded by coding contractors and reported to payers. Let’s discuss they key areas of oversight that your organization should be employing as part of your business relationship with a coding contractor, including quality control, policies and procedures, training and education and communication processes between the two entities. We’ll also discuss contemporaneous issues such as US based vs. globally based coding contractors.
