LUNCHEON: Major Gifts: Developing a Strategic Plan for Every Donor in Your Portfolio
This nuts-and-bolts session will teach you how to harness the interest and capacity of your donors to propel you towards a successful major gift solicitation. Whether your portfolio is brand new or more seasoned, using a series of progressively more detailed and specific questions will significantly advance your work with donors. So that you can put these strategies into practice immediately, please have in mind two potential donors that you know well, and two that you don’t know well when you attend this session. Heather Coleman Trippel is the Associate Dean of External Relations at the Stanford Graduate School of Education with a specialty in building Major Gift Portfolios.
WORKSHOP (optional add-on): Major Gifts: How to Identify Partnerships for a Successful Solicitation:
Are there people outside of your organization with whom you need to create a partnership, like an attorney, a financial advisor or the donor’s children? And, who are the best partners among your colleagues? When will it be appropriate to introduce your prospect to a leader of your organization? As a final step, you will review what you know, and don’t know about your potential donor, and design a goal statement, complete with a timeline and the next steps necessary to realize it.
