Eligibility: Representatives of the Kennebec County District Attorney’s office identify individuals who appear to be appropriate candidates for this program and refer them to the program’s registration staff (see contact information below). Typically, the program is offered to first time offenders who are facing charges for underage drinking and/or related violations.
Location/Schedule: The program is offered once a month, in Augusta or Waterville, based on registrations. Classes are completed over a two day period: Day One: 8:00 to 3:00 PM; Day Two: 8:00 to 1:00 PM.
Expectations: The program is provided as an alternative or reduction to a court ordered fine. To ensure waiver of a fine, individuals must:
Attend all 12 hours of the PRIME for Life class for which you register. Complete the paperwork required by the program, Behave appropriately while participating in the program, and Pay the registration fee. Please note that if a portion of the class is missed, you will need to re-register for another class, including paying another registration fee.
Fee for this Program: $100 per person. You may pay on-line when registering or before class begins on Saturday. CASH only when paying the morning of. A Checks should be made out to HCCA. If you register for a class and do not attend; a $40 re registration fee will be applied.
Program Management and Delivery: The PRIME for Life program is managed by staff of the Southern Kennebec Alliance for Substance Abuse Prevention (ASAP) and Healthy Communities of the Capital Area. Each class is taught by a nationally certified PRIME for Life instructor.
