MED-EL EAS West Surgical Workshop

MED-EL’s EAS (Electric Acoustic Stimulation) surgical training offers an educational workshop designed for cochlear implant surgeons seeking to expand their knowledge, learn advanced surgical techniques and improve their skills and procedure outcomes.

The workshop is tailored to meet the specific needs of surgeons and incorporate a variety of learning experiences. It includes an overview of EAS surgery goals, candidacy requirements, patient pre-operative assessment, surgical approach, preservation of cochlear structures (Soft Surgery Technique), insertion of the FLEX24, intraoperative challenges and troubleshooting techniques.  Participants then perform surgical procedures using the FLEX24 electrode on human cadaver specimens under the instruction and guidance of their faculty.  Use of cadaver specimens allows course participants to engage in motor-skill activities closely approximating the OR experience.

A MED-EL EAS Surgeon Training course certificate will be provided upon successful completion of the course.
