MEDICAL CODING CERTIFICATE PROGRAM
Due to the aging population, forecasted changes in health care coverage and insurance, and a national focus on electronic medical records, job opportunities in this area are expected to grow by 18% through 2016, faster than the average for all occupations, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The labor market will be further impacted when ICD-10 is implemented.
The Medical Coding Certificate Program has been designed so students can learn all the fundamentals by following the recommended pace of taking three modules of three courses, each module lasting no more than 15 weeks. Lessons learned in one course will help support lessons learned in subsequent courses.
Students who successfully complete the Medical Coding Certificate Program (three modules with three courses per module or nine single courses) will receive a Medical Coding Certificate of Completion and may choose to sit for the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) Certified Coding Associate (CCA) or the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) CPC national certification examinations.
