About virtual attendance

This conference is presented as a Hybrid conference meaning you can attend in person or you can watch and hear it from your desktop, which is the "virtual attendee" option. Please note that the lunch breakout session on Sept. 27 from 12:15 pm - 1:30 pm ET, is only offered to On-Site participants.

We broadcast conference live using the GoToWebinar platform. You will see the presentations on your monitor and hear the audio through your computer's speakers.

You will be able to ask questions to the speakers via a chat function.

We will email you log in instructions 24 hours prior to the start of the conference.  Make sure to check your spam filter and your junk folder. We strongly suggest you log on 20 minutes prior to the start to make sure your settings and connection is ok.

24 hours prior to the start, we will upload into a dropbox account pdf copies of all the presentations that have been submitted to us. Note, some speakers do not provide us their presentation in advance and some do not allow copies to be distributed. Please monitor the dropbox as we move along the conference, as presentations will be uploaded as they are submitted.

We will provide you with a Certificate of Attendance and all released slide decks in about 2 weeks after the conference.

Pros and Cons

PROS: No Travel!
If you miss the live broadcast, you can watch it all or any part of it later, On Demand.
Most of the feedback from our other virtual attendees has been very positive.

CONS:
No networking with peers or the speakers during breaks or during the reception.
This is a live broadcast in which there are some variables that we can not control. While most speakers are good presenters, from time to time we find the presenter to be to soft spoken or they don't speak directly into the microphone. This can impact the audio quality for the virtuals more so than on site attendees. We work very hard to correct this when it happens, but it happens!
The audio will come through your computer. Headphones, not earbuds are highly recommended. External speakers are ok too but the typical built in speakers do not work well.

Summary

Sometimes the key to a successful conference is networking with speakers and peers. Peer to peer sharing of best practices is also one of the intangible benefits from attending onsite so you need to weigh the pro and cons when you decide if the virtual option is the best choice.

Having said that, if you simply can not travel to this conference, virtual attendance is the next best thing to being there.
