The Strategic Board:  Four Complaints, Seven Realities, Five Great Questions, and Two Easy Fixes

Somewhere there are effective governing boards. With over a million and a half tax-exempt organizations in operation today, the odds have to be favorable. Unfortunately, as many board members know, high-impact governance is tough to achieve. That boards want to be great, but cannot make it happen begins with the seven realities that you cannot easily change. Together they are a perfect storm that explains why so many boards are ineffective, why they toggle back and forth between cheerleading the organization and subjecting it to inquisitions. As one respected nonprofit leader said at a recent governance conference, “To be irrelevant would be a step forward for many boards.” In this one-hour member call, Mark will help you begin the journey to better governance, which begins with a quick on-line survey that all participants should complete before the call.
