 ABOUT OUR MISSION OUR AIMS
The society was formed in 2014 by two like-minded H/P who saw the need to create a true multidisciplinary professional society to support a better understanding and management of tongue and lip tie for the locality of the Australasian region. The Australasian Society for Tongue and Lip Ties (ASTLiT) was registered by Holly Puckering, Speech Language Pathologist and Bridget Ingle, Lactation Consultant in February 2014. The establishment of the society was supported by a steering committee with representation from medicine, dentistry, surgical, speech language pathology, orofacial myology, occupational therapy, chiropractic, midwifery, lactation, ultrasonography and dietetics.
The society grew in depth and experience with the inaugural Cutting Edge Symposium 2014 and the formation of the first ASTLiT governing committee.
Our work continues...

The Australasian Society for Tongue and Lip Ties (ASTLiT) is a dynamic group of multidisciplinary health care professionals supporting optimal outcomes in families and individuals affected by Tongue and Lip Ties through integrating and sharing of up to date clinical experience, research and resources.

Our primary aim is to increase awareness of tongue and lip ties, by providing information regarding effective diagnosis & treatment from infancy to adulthood to Health care professionals.
ASTLiT offers the opportunity to share information through evidence - based research and proven clinical experience to health professionals who seek to understand the nuances of tongue and lip ties. We advocate for both safe and effective treatment for those who are affected by tongue and lip ties.
As an association we aim to provide resources and educational opportunities for the health care professionals who treat and rehabilitate individuals with tongue and lip ties, as well as those who support and refer affected individuals.
We aim to increase the awareness of the broader wellbeing (or health) implications of this condition.
