MFPT ANNUAL AWARDS

MFPT honors select recipients based on an individual's and/or organization's contribution to the Society and excellence in the field of failure prevention.

At a luncheon ceremony at MFPT 2018, we will present the winners in the following categories:

Fellows of the MFPT Society

Potential fellowships are considered annually, and elected where appropriate, because of their outstanding and devoted service to the MFPT Society over an extended period of time.

Up to two fellows of the MFPT Society may be elected each year.  Nominations for fellowship are proposed by members of the MFPT Board of Directors and considered by the MFPT Chairman, Vice Chairman the Executive Director.  Fellows are elected because of their outstanding and devoted service to the MFPT Society over an extended period of time.  Candidates for MFPT Fellowship will be individuals who are held in high regard in the failure prevention community in general, and will have made significant contributions to the failure prevention field.  Although not exclusively the case, candidates will normally be serving, or will have served, on the MFPT Board of Directors.

The Jack Frarey Memorial Award for Excellence

The Jack Frarey Award for Excellence in the Field of Machinery Failure Prevention Technology recognizes annually the outstanding contributions to this field by individuals or organizations that best emulate the spirit and personal dedication Frarey brought to this endeavor.

In selecting candidates for this award, the following factors are considered:

  • The innovation and lasting significance of the contribution to the field.
  • The history and dedication of the candidate to advancing the field.
  • The context of the candidate's contribution to the field.

The Hank Hegner Best Student Paper Award

The MFPT Society annually recognizes the best student paper presented at the MFPT conference by awarding the author the Best Student Paper Award.  In 2015, a Runner Up Student Paper Award was added.  Starting in 2017, the Best Student Paper Award was named for Hank Hegner, whose real passion was teaching and mentoring students and young engineers.

 This year the Best Student paper award will be sponsored Anonymously and the Runner Up Award will be sponsored by James 'Hoffy' Hoffmeister on behalf of Ridgetop Group, Inc.

The Henry and Sallie Pusey Best Paper Award

The MFPT Society annually recognizes the best paper presented at the MFPT conference by awarding the author(s) the Henry and Sallie Pusey Best Paper Award. The paper is selected for this top honor from all the papers submitted and is judged to be the best paper by peer professionals.  The Best Paper exemplifies the highest levels of excellence in technical contribution, clarity, and professionalism.  The award recognizes the significant contribution of Henry and Sallie Pusey to MFPT over many years.

The winner of the Pusey Best Paper Award in 2017 was:
