Starbright Training Institute
and the
Gil Institute for Trauma Recovery & Education
Starbright Training Institute
provides training for mental health and other child-serving professionals. Starbright is committed to experiential learning in small group formats—twenty participants is full capacity! The training programs focus on the use of expressive arts (sand, play, art therapy) in the treatment of childhood trauma.
Gil Institute for Trauma Recovery and Education
is a group private practice of mental health professionals with a focused interest and expertise in treatment of trauma in children and their families. Dr. Eliana Gil is one of the founding partners, along with Dr. Jennifer Shaw and Myriam Goldin, LCSW. These three like-minded treatment providers have set a standard of excellence in provision of community education and clinical practice. Individual, group, and family therapy services are available to young children, three and up. In addition, several specialized services include Circle of Security Parenting Groups (provided by Certified Parent Group Specialists), Theraplay, and a unique parent-child assessment called the Marshak Interaction Model (MIM). Several of our clinicians are in Level Two and Three of the Theraplay Certification Process. Dr. Gil has completed a two-year Individual Certification process provided by Dr. Bruce Perry of the Child Trauma Academy, and basic principles from his Neurosequential Model of Therapy (NMT) inform our treatment assessment and planning. Gil Institute is an evidence-based clinical practice, and our staff remains well-informed and trained in cutting-edge treatment practices.
Expressive Media, Inc.
(EMI) is a nonprofit organization co-founded in 1985 by pioneer art therapist, psychologist, and analyst, Judith A. Rubin, with her colleague Eleanor Irwin, pioneer drama therapist, psychodramatist, and analyst. EMI's focus is the production and distribution of films demonstrating best practices in the expressive arts therapies, including a number of award-winning titles. The Institute of the Arts in Healing furthers EMI's educational mission to "extend the healing power of the arts" to people of all ages.
