Tools for Strategic Decision Making

Presenter: Teresa Geremia-Chart, Partner, Sage Solutions Nonprofit Consulting

Most nonprofit leaders engage in episodic planning involving setting goals and making decisions in a vacuum; but strategic planning often involves making tough strategic decisions about programs, fundraising and other operations based on financial and impact analysis. With an understanding of the sustainability and impact of core activities, leaders have the tools to make the kind of strategic decisions that can transform organizations.

In this workshop, you will learn a practical method based on the book Nonprofit Sustainability: Making Strategic Decisions for Financial Viability, to measure the impact and profitability of your core activities, build a matrix to compare and analyze the results, identify strategic imperatives and make strategic decisions – from your fundraising approach, to staffing and board decisions.

Join your peers for this half-day workshop where you will calculate the profitability and rate the impact of your core activities.  Throughout the workshop you will build a chart of your core activities to compare and analyze. At the end of the workshop, you will be prepared to implement the method and create graphical matrix to present to your team for decision making.

To get the most out of your time, we have a worksheet for you to complete prior to the training. Please visit the Pre-Work page for more information.
