MYOFASCIAL RELEASE and APPLICATION to NEURO-DEVELOPMENTAL TREATMENT TECHNIQUES

MYOFASCIAL RELEASE and APPLICATION to NEURO-DEVELOPMENTAL TREATMENT TECHNIQUES

Event Overview

The fascial system is a continuous layer of tissue throughout the body that when atypical movement/posture alter the natural alignment of the skeleton, the fascia adapts by contracting and bonding. In this 3-day workshop, we will review the fascial system as it relates to those with atypical posture/movement focusing on hands-on evaluation and treatment of fascial system to facilitate movement.  We will focus on basic myofascial releases as they apply to soft tissue elongation and NDT facilitation.  Course will enhance your ability to clinically reason and plan treatment for those with multi-system impairments such as cerebral palsy, congenital hypotonicity and other neuromuscular issues.

This is an intermediate level course and applicable to PT/OT/SLP.  The CEU’s may be used for purposes of NDTA re-certification.

Learning Objectives:

1) Assess and detail function of the fascial system

2) Identify 5 critical fascial restrictions interfering with motor function related to functional outcomes

3) Define MFR techniques for neurological impairments and demonstrate problem-solving  of when/why to use which technique

4) Demonstrate 3 MFR techniques to elongate muscle group NDT strategies to increase mobility and enhance stability through facilitation of  movement.

5) Demonstrate 3 MFR techniques to elongate muscle groups in preparation for movement,    respiration, reach and communication.

THIS COURSE IS APPLICABLE TO OT/OTA, PT/PTA, SLP/SLPA WORKING WITH THIS POPULATION.   PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE OF NDT PRINCIPLES IS RECOMMENDED.  THIS COURSE HAS CEU'S FOR NDTA RE-CERTIFICATION AND IS APPROVED FOR AOTA CREDIT AND ASHA. Documentation for CEU's will be given during course for PT/PTA CEU credit.

Please note that this course is lab-intensive with significant time spent in practicing release techniques.

Course Fee is $675, but early bird and group discounts are available by contacting us at info@gomotm.com
