Lisa A. Robin, MLA, is the chief advocacy officer for the Federation of State Medical Boards (FSMB) where she oversees FSMB’s Washington, DC office. She also oversees FSMB’s education services, federal and state legislative and policy services, and public affairs. In addition, Ms Robin supports the FSMB Foundation and its grant programs. During her long tenure at FSMB, Ms Robin has been active in policy analysis, development, and promulgation on issues including medical board authority and structure, license portability, telemedicine, state pain and addiction policy, scope of practice, and physician health. She represents the position of state medical boards to Congress and the Administration, and supports individual boards to achieve their state legislative agendas. Ms Robin earned her bachelor and master degrees from Texas Christian University.

Alex J. Adams, MPH, PharmD, RPh, is executive director of the Idaho State Board of Pharmacy. Prior to this role, he served as vice president of pharmacy programs at the National Association of Chain Drug Stores, a Washington, DC‐area trade association that represents 40,000 pharmacies in the United States. Dr Adams was honored with the Albert B. Prescott Pharmacy Leadership Award in 2015. Dr Adams received his bachelor of science and doctor of pharmacy degrees from the University of Toledo. He received his masters of public health degree from Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health.

Currently, Ms MacDonnell is self employed as a consultant pharmacist providing services to McKesson Canada, Supply Chain Solutions Division. She also provides relief dispensing services to several community pharmacies on a regular basis. Ms MacDonnell was a Shoppers Drug Mart franchise owner from 1988 to 2008. Throughout her career, Ms MacDonnell has been actively involved as a representative of both the pharmacy regulatory and advocacy bodies in New Brunswick. She assisted with the implementation of Pharmacist Prescriptive Authority in New Brunswick. In addition, she participated with the development of New Brunswick’s Drug Information System, and researched and published a paper addressing Medication and Syringe Disposal. Ms MacDonnell earned her bachelor in science in pharmacy degree from Dalhousie University, and her diploma in health information management from McMaster University.

Knute Buehler, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon and represents Bend, OR, in the Oregon House of Representatives (District 54). Dr Buehler helped build The Center, a patient-focused orthopedic and neurosurgery care facility in Bend that includes 34 medical providers and 180 employees. Dr Buehler also served as an adjunct professor with the Oregon State University School of Public Health and as a medical device consultant to public and private entities around the world. He has published more than 20 scientific papers and book chapters, and lectured extensively in the United States and internationally on the topic of medical research, product development, and computer-assisted surgery. As a civic leader, Dr Buehler serves on the budget committee for the Bend-La Pine School District and on the boards of the Ford Family Foundation, Oregon State University (OSU) Foundation, and the St Charles Health System. He previously served on the boards of OSU-Cascades Campus, St Charles Health System Foundation, Oregon Orthopedic Association, Central Oregon Medical Society, and High Desert Museum. Dr Buehler earned his bachelor of science degree in microbiology from Oregon State University, and earned his medical degree from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.

Karen Ryle, MS, RPh, is the director of outpatient pharmacy at Massachusetts General Hospital. Ms Ryle is also a member of the Massachusetts Disaster Medical Assistance Team and was deployed to New Orleans, LA, in 2005 following Hurricane Katrina; Haiti in 2010 following the earthquake; and New York in 2012 following Hurricane Sandy. She is a former member of the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Pharmacy where she served as president, and she is a past president of NABP. Her experience includes 30 years of community pharmacy practice. Ms Ryle received the 2005 MCP College Medal and the Bowl of Hygeia award in 2008. Ms Ryle earned a bachelor of science degree in pharmacy and her master of science degree in drug regulatory affairs from Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences.

Sharon Stancliff, MD, currently serves as the medical director of the Harm Reduction Coalition. She is an internationally known expert on opioid overdose prevention and buprenorphine use. Providing education and capacity building nationally and internationally, Dr Stancliff has been working with people who use drugs since 1990 including provision of primary care, drug treatment, HIV care, and syringe access. She has provided technical assistance to many states and in a variety of countries, including Ukraine and Zanzibar. Currently, her primary project is prevention of opioid overdose with naloxone; she works with people who use drugs, general community members, law enforcement, and criminal justice agencies in widening the implementation of naloxone as prevention. Dr Stancliff has published numerous articles related to harm reduction and drug treatment. She is board certified in family medicine, is an American Academy of Family Practice Fellow, and is certified by the American Board of Addiction Medicine. Dr Stancliff graduated from the University of California at Davis School of Medicine, completed her family practice residency at the University of Arizona, and completed the AIDS Institute-sponsored Nicolas Rango HIV Clinical Scholars Program at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City, NY.

Steven W. Schierholt, Esq, is the executive director of the State of Ohio Board of Pharmacy. Prior to joining the Board, he was the assistant superintendent of the Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) at the Ohio Attorney General’s Office. In that position, he oversaw all operations of the Bureau including the unprecedented reduction in the average DNA evidence processing time from 125 days to 22 days. From 2004 to 2007, Mr Schierholt served as the executive director of the Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission. During his tenure, he managed the complete remodel of the Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy campus in London, OH. Mr Schierholt also lobbied for and secured passage of an Ohio law requiring continuing education for law enforcement officers, a first step in what is now of statewide and national focus. Mr Schierholt has more than 35 years of experience in law enforcement and agency administration. A United States Army Veteran, Mr Schierholt also served as an Assistant Attorney General, BCI Special Agent, adjunct professor of criminal justice, deputy sheriff with the Auglaize County Sheriff’s Office, and Assistant Franklin County Prosecutor. Mr Schierholt received his undergraduate degree and juris doctorate from Capital University.

Dr Miller returned to USP after nearly 10 years with the FDA Center for Drug Evaluation and Research where she most recently served as director, Division of Nonprescription Drugs and Health Fraud, in the Office of Unapproved Drugs and Labeling Compliance. Prior to her service with FDA, Dr Miller spent nearly 10 years at USP, where her work focused on drug nomenclature, labeling, packaging, and patient safety standards to prevent medication errors and adverse events. Dr Miller’s extensive experience in health care and medicines-related work also includes several years as a clinical pharmacist at the Washington Hospital Center in Washington, DC. Ms Kienle has served on the Board of Directors of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP), where she is currently a fellow, and as President of the Pennsylvania Society of Hospital Pharmacists (PSHP). Ms Kienle was the recipient of the Distinguished Achievement Award in Hospital and Institutional Practice from the American Pharmaceutical Association Academy of Pharmacy Practice and Management, the Distinguished Leadership Award from ASHP, and was named Pharmacist of the Year by PSHP.  She has served on the Pharmacotherapy Specialty Council of the Board of Pharmaceutical Specialties, the Pennsylvania Patient Safety Authority, the Hospital Professional and Technical Advisory Committee of The Joint Commission, and on the Board of Governors of the National Patient Safety Foundation. Ms Kienle is the author of Compounding Sterile Preparations: ASHP’s Visual Guide to Chapter <797> video and Companion Guide, co-author of Assuring Continuous Compliance with Joint Commission Standards: A Pharmacy Guide, 8th edition, and author of the upcoming The 800 Answer Book. Additionally, she edited Understanding JCAHO Requirements for Hospital Pharmacies. She completed an Executive Fellowship in Patient Safety from Virginia Commonwealth University and is an adjunct associate professor at Wilkes University in Wilkes-Barre, PA. Ms Kienle received her bachelor of science degree in pharmacy from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science, and a masters in public administration from Marywood University.

In his current role at CVS, Dr Carter provides regulatory guidance and manages the day-to-day regulatory needs, which include maximizing capabilities of specialty and mail-order pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in unique dispensing and non-dispensing roles. In addition to ensuring regulatory compliance with new initiatives, Dr Carter has assisted in the development of nationally accredited technician training programs. Dr Carter currently serves on a Pharmacy Technician Certification Board task force that is looking at the advancement of pharmacy technicians in the community practice setting. He previously served on the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists Pharmacy Technician Continuing Education Advisory Panel in 2012.
