Robin Farmanfarmaian - Keynote Speaker
Entrepreneur and Health Care Investor

Robin Farmanfarmaian is an entrepreneur and health care investor who will speak on her passions of self-advocacy, understanding the value of technology in health care, and the impact of products and services that provide innovative health care solutions. In 2015, Farmanfarmaian published The Patient as CEO: How Technology Empowers the Healthcare Consumer, a top seller on Amazon. Her book is a product of her own experiences: she was misdiagnosed with an autoimmune disease at 16, which caused her to go through 43 hospitalizations and six major surgeries. She ultimately chose to take control of her health care, which was a life-altering and life-improving decision.

She is the co-founder of the Organ Preservation Alliance, an organization that develops technology to store organs and tissues long term for the purpose of organ banking and tissue engineering. She is also an investor and business developer at Invicta Medical, a medical technology start-up developing new treatment for sleep apnea; and Dance Biopharm, which is developing insulin that can be inhaled using a smart, connected device replacing injectable insulin. She is the vice president of Actavalon, which is developing a cure for cancer by targeting two fundamental cancer pathways; and the strategic relations advisor to MindMaze, which is developing virtual reality to help rehabilitate people who have suffered strokes and brain injuries.

Farmanfarmaian has also been an integral part of Singularity University, a Silicon Valley think tank that provides nontraditional educational programs that teach students about quickly developing technologies likely to have wide-ranging impacts in the upcoming decades. Farmanfarmaian served as vice president of strategic relations and as an advisor for Exponential Medicine, a Singularity conference focused on new medical and health technologies.
