Monday, March 26: Welcome Reception and Dine Around

The 2018 conference will open with a "Show Your Center's Spirit" Themed Welcome Reception in the exhibit hall at The Westin Seattle from 6:00pm-7:00pm.  All participants are encouraged to wear your center's colors or branded attire.  

Following the reception, all attendees and sponsors are welcome to participate in a dine around featuring downtown Seattle's favorite restaurants. Reservations will be made by the conference. Restaurant locations and sign up information will be available on the onsite mobile application in February.  All actual dinner costs are the responsibility of the individual.

MoPOP Statement of Mission: The Museum of Pop Culture is a leading-edge nonprofit museum, dedicated to the ideas and risk-taking that fuel contemporary popular culture.     Sculpture Mopop  

Designed by internationally acclaimed architect Frank O. Gehry, MoPOP offers a spectacular venue for the 2018 NACCDO PAMN Conference. MoPOP is set amid the backdrop of the Space Needle and easily accessible from The Westin Seattle. The museum's one-of-a-kind architecture contains a variety of galleries surrounding the main event space, Sky Church, which features an awe-inspiring 33' x 60' HD LED screen, accompanied by state-of-the-art acoustics that span an enormous wall.

Upon arrival attendees will enjoy catered delights by Wolfgang Puck and have an all access pass to Sky Church and the central galleries. Rising high in the central gallery "VI was IX roots and branches guitar sculpture" and above on the 2nd floor is Sound Lab, which hosts multimedia installations that invite hands-on interaction so that visitors may explore the tools of rock 'n' roll through electric guitars, drums, samplers, mixing consoles, and more!

Attendees may access MoPOP via the monorail (round trip tickets provided for the evening event), located just across from The Westin Seattle at Westlake Station. The monorail was built for the 1962 Seattle World's Fair, is handicap accessible, holds up to 250 per train, and departs approximately every 10 minutes for the one stop journey from Westlake Station to the Seattle Center, home of the Space Needle and MoPOP.

Wednesday, March 28 Tours: Fred Hutch, Ducks, Chihuly Garden and Glass!

Following the Plenary Luncheon at the Westin Seattle on Wednesday, March 28, attendees will have the option to take part in a tour to Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center as well as other area Seattle Favorites. Information on all options noted below. All details subject to change. 

On the Fred Hutch Tour participants will be transferred via motorcoach from The Westin to the Fred Hutch campus where they will be greeted by guides for a walking tour showcasing Fred Hutch's commitment to making life-saving discoveries, their history and how their scientific breakthroughs have led to thousands of lives being saved worldwide.

Tour Timing*: 1:15pm departure from The Westin for approx 1:30pm arrival at Fred Hutch for an approx 70-minute walking tour. On completion of the tour attendees may utilize the coach transfer return, or weather permitting, enjoy a 1-mile walk back to the Westin. 

Cost: There is no additional cost for a tour at Fred Hutch. Tour size is limited to 150 participants, unless otherwise advised.  Additional tours to be added based on availability.

*Tours of Fred Hutch will only be available on Wednesday, March 28 from approx 1:30pm-3:00pm.

Confirmed tour attendees will be greeted at The Westin by a private Duck charter for a 90-minute adventure on Seattle’s #1 city tour! Your wacky Tour Guide will surprise and entertain your group with trivia tidbits and we guarantee you’ll be shocked when we turn this bus into a boat and drive straight into the lake! You’ll see the sights of Seattle, but this isn’t your normal sightseeing tour. You’ll laugh, you’ll learn and in the end you’ll wonder: why didn’t we do this earlier?

Timing: 1:30pm-3:00pm door to door from The Westin Seattle. 
Cost: $30 per person*

*25 attendees required for private duck tour, 34 maximum.  If minimum is not reached by March 12, 2018 the tour will be cancelled and attendees will have the option to join another tour space permitting, or have the time at leisure.  If interest exceeds 50 attendees, a second duck will be added. No payments will be processed until March 15 if the tour is confirmed. 

OPTION 2: Chihuly Garden and Glass

Confirmed tour attendees will be provided with motorcoach transportation from The Westin to the Chihuly Garden and Glass gallery located at the Seattle Center. Here you will be greeted by a tour guide for a hosted experience providing a look at the inspiration and influences that inform the career of artist Dale Chihuly. The Exhibition includes eight Galleries, the centerpiece Glasshouse and a lush Garden.

Timing: 1:30pm-3:00pm with round trip transfer by motorcoach from and to the Westin. Weather permitting those wishing to walk back from the guided experience are welcome to do so.  

Cost: $30 per person*

*25 attendees required for guided tour with motorcoach transportation.  If minimum is not reached by March 12, 2018 the tour will be cancelled and attendees will have the option to join another tour space permitting, or have the time at leisure.  If interest exceeds 50 attendees a second guide will be added.  No payments will be processed until March 15 if the tour is confirmed.  

For those wishing to visit the gardens and galleries without a guide on Wednesday, March 28, or on other days throughout the conference, depending on interest reduced priced admission tickets will be available at the conference check in desk at The Westin.

Wednesday, March 28: Evening at Leisure or For Purchase Dinner/Activity Options

On Wednesday, March 28, following the Social Think Tank Sessions, attendees will have the evening at leisure to connect with new contacts and long time friends. There will also be two dinner & activity options available for purchase. More information on the for purchase options will be available by February 17.
