NASA AIST Machine Learning Workshop


Purpose: The purpose of this workshop is to better understand the value of machine learning in support of science investigation. This meeting will be the first of a two part workshop series and will formulate three problems, one from each of different disciplines, tentatively set for hydrology, cryosphere and tropospheric composition, more specifically, air quality in urban environments.

  • A room block has been reserved for out-of-town guests at the Millennium Harvest House at the GSA per diem rate. Reservations can be made here. Breakfast is provided for $7/day and parking is free.  Room block will close 3/17.  
  • Meetings will be held at CU EarthLab ~1.2 miles on Boulder Creek Path (directions)
  • Transportation Options: (1) GreenRide Shuttles; (2) Uber/Lyft ($60-90/one way); (3) DIA Bus - AB (AB2 - 28th/Arapahoe) 
  • Transportation will be provided to/from hotel to meeting venue and to Chautauqua as needed.

Lunch will be served on Tuesday, April 17 at noon. The meeting will start at 1pm on Tuesday and will wrap-up by noon on Thursday, April 19 to allow for travel on Tuesday morning and home on Thursday evening.

Transportation to/from Millennium: 

  • There is parking at CU, but it is hourly paid parking. We also will have a shuttle running back/forth from the Millennium.  
  • Tuesday the shuttle will leave the Millennium at 12:30 to drop off at the CU EarthLab. Shuttles will return to Millennium before dinner at 5:15
  • Tuesday evening shuttles will leave the Millennium at 6 for dinner at Chautauqua at 6:30 and will return to the Millennium at 9. 
  • Wednesday and Thursday morning the shuttle will leave the hotel at 8am and return at 5 or 5:15.   


Lunch will be served on Tuesday afternoon from 12-1pm before the workshop starts. Tuesday evening we will have a group dinner at the Chautauqua Dinning Hall. This will be a special treat for both locals and travelers! Breakfast is on your own. There will be morning break, lunch and afternoon breaks on Wednesday and Thursday. Thursday lunches will be grab/go options Meal requests have been considered.
