2017 Spring Training Core Conference (March 29-31)
The 2017 Spring Training Conference offers valuable opportunities for professionals from around the country to come together, learn, be inspired, and inspire others as they discuss strategies for meeting new challenges in improved performance, innovation, and accountability in the fight to change the face of poverty across the nation. The conference is separated into the following tracks:
As separate events but in conjunction with the Spring Training Conference, we are excited to offer these additional training opportunities:
CSBG/WAP Orientation (March 27-28)
When it comes to trainings, many people are often turned off by the word “orientation,” feeling that it is irrelevant to someone who has spent a good number of years working in the field. While the 2017 Orientation for State Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) and Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) directors and staff certainly speaks to those new to the program, it also offers a plethora of useful tools, updates, and information for anyone who administers the CSBG or WAP. In an ever evolving world of rules and regulations, why not go the extra mile to make sure you are in compliance and on top of your game?
CSBG/WAP Monitor's Training (March 27-28)
The Monitor’s Training is designed to improve monitoring within the CSBG and WAP networks. The two-day training will provide an overview of a systems approach to monitoring and include an in-depth review of monitoring standards, a brief history of WAP/CSBG, the tri-partite Board, a discussion about the nature of nonprofits vs. the nature of State government, and an introduction to fund accounting, internal controls, and fiscal accountability. The training will enable participants to develop an action plan for improving their current monitoring tools and processes.
