National ANPR Conference 2017

In terms of the use of automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) to disrupt, deter and detect criminal activity, bringing offenders to justice and assisting to keep people safe, the UK is widely recognised as a world leader.

For many years, this success has been based on legacy systems operating within individual forces. However, this year’s ANPR Conference heralds the advent of the new National ANPR Service (NAS), whereby individual systems are to be combined into a truly national service, delivering increased capability and best practice to all.

The proportionate use of such enabling intelligence and respect for privacy remains a priority with a requirement for transparency, good governance, data quality and compliance with forthcoming changes in legislation.

Speakers have been specifically selected to stimulate and challenge thinking over what can be achieved through the use of ANPR.

Through a range of plenary and workshop sessions, delegates will be have an opportunity to see the new NAS application demonstrated, speak to the Programme team and with suppliers in order for individual forces and law enforcement agencies to ensure that all agencies are aware how to explore the operational benefits to be gained from the true national picture, enabling individuals to effectively work across borders with a true national data collection.
