National Clean Energy Summit 5.0: The Power of Choice will focus on empowering individuals, governments, and businesses with the ability to choose clean energy. The conference will highlight energy options and how the freedom to make clean energy choices can improve the quality of life, save consumers money, and grow the economy.  The more the public, business, and government understand the immense benefits of clean energy, the more likely they are to support and adopt policies to bring that future here sooner.

There has never been a more important time for Nevada and the nation to better enable investment in clean energy.  Bringing clean energy options in-line with a smarter electricity grid, while increasing the amount of solar, wind, and geothermal energy from projects in Nevada and the West, can give power to new industries and markets that will also simultaneously create new jobs and help rebuild our economy.

The Summit will also discuss why we must invest in the research, development, deployment, and commercialization of new clean tech products to make us competitive in the $7 trillion global clean energy market. For example, investments by the Department of Defense in renewable and energy efficiency technologies for military use will keep our troops safer by reducing their exposure caused by the transportation of energy resources to forward operating bases.  These investments can also simultaneously help the civilian clean tech sector to overcome the barriers of commercializing new clean energy technologies, just as we have with the Internet, engines, and microchips.

Nevada and the West

While much has been accomplished to realize the clean energy potential of Nevada and the West, much more can and should be done in the coming decades to ensure future clean energy growth.  Our economic future will be much brighter if we can make the Silver State into the vibrant core of a Western and national clean energy market unlike anywhere else in the world.
