This training will provide an in-depth overview of the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health ICARE tool for use in mental health assessments for children birth to five. It will increase the participants’ skills in observing the parent-child dyad, and will address diverse communities that we commonly work with, stigmas that may adversely affect our service delivery, and how to maintain a culturally responsive approach while interviewing the caregiver during the assessment process. Additionally, it will address how to assess, evaluate, and diagnose very young children. Finally, participants will gain experience in developing age appropriate treatment plan goals and objectives that meet Medi Cal and Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health standards.
