NCCN is now accepting abstracts for consideration to be presented during the NCCN 22nd Annual Conference: Improving the Quality, Effectiveness, and Efficiency of Cancer Care™ General Poster Session at the Rosen Shingle Creek in Orlando, Florida on Thursday, March 23 - Saturday, March 25, 2017. NCCN welcomes original abstracts from investigators in the general oncology community. Submissions will be accepted from academic institutions, teaching and community hospitals, or industry. Both NCCN and non-NCCN institutions may participate.

  • Correlative/Genomic

Submission Requirements

Abstract Submission Deadline: Sunday, November 6, 2016, 11:59 PM Eastern Standard Time (GMT - 05:00)

Abstract Decision: First authors can expect to receive notification via e-mail in mid-December 2016.

The following must be completed during the submission process in order for your submission to be considered complete:

  • Registration: Credit card payment of the non-refundable administrative fee; you will receive an automatic registration confirmation email once completed. 
  • Abstract Submission: Review, approve, and submit your abstract through JNCCNEM, an online submission system (JNCCNEM link and instructions will be sent via email in your registration confirmation email) Electronic Confidential Disclosure Agreement: Must be completed through JNCCNEM for all authors.
  • Ensure Successful Notifications from NCCN: Full contact information for the primary author must be provided in JNCCNEM when creating your account, as well as full contact information for a secondary contact.
  • Upon successful completion of the payment step during the submission process, you will receive an e-mail confirmation with instructions and a link to JNCCNEM to create a personal account. You will be required to upload, review, and submit your abstract. Confidential disclosure agreements for all authors must also be completed through JNCCNEM. If desired, you may log into JNCCNEM to make changes to your abstract at any time prior to your final submission. General Abstract Guidelines:

  • Abstracts must be no longer than 2,500 characters. One table may be submitted with the abstract and will count towards the 2,500 character limit. No figures will be accepted.
  • Completed abstracts must be submitted through the JNCCNEM (a link will be provided in your confirmation e-mail that you will receive after completing the online submission and payment process). The abstract template requires the following sections, with the optional addition of one table: (1) Background, (2) Methods, (3) Results (must include data analysis/summary), and (4) Conclusions.
  • Interim analysis for studies in progress will be considered; however, as with all abstracts, data analysis/summary must be included in the results section in order to support conclusions.
  • Study titles should be neutral and when referring to drug names, use the drugs’ generic names.
  • Abbreviations should be used after first spelling out words to be abbreviated in the abstract.
  • Authors may serve as first authors on up to two abstracts, but may be co-authors on an unlimited number of other abstract submissions.
  • If selected for the poster session, an electronic version of your poster must be submitted to by Wednesday, March 22, 2017.

Administrative Fee: A $60 non-refundable administrative fee, payable by credit card (American Express, Discover, MasterCard, or Visa) during the submission process, will be applied to all abstracts. There is a discounted rate of $50 for authors from NCCN Member Institutions. Submission rates for fellows is $30.

Abstract Selection & Notification:

  • Abstracts will be reviewed by the NCCN Abstract Review Committee based on the following criteria:
    1. Scientific merit
    2. Topic relevance
    3. Methodological rigor
    4. Data analysis/summary
    5. Overall quality and clarity
  • First authors will be notified via e-mail regarding their abstract status in mid-December 2016.
  • All accepted original, previously unpublished* abstracts will be published on Select abstracts will also be published in print in JNCCN — Journal of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network.
  • A transfer of copyright to JNCCN is required for publication.*

*Only original abstracts accepted by the Abstract Review Committee will be published by JNCCN.  If abstracts are found to have been previously published, they will be disqualified.

NCCN Annual Conference Registration:

  • If your abstract is selected for presentation, you must register for the NCCN Annual Conference.
  • No expenses related to the conference will be covered if accepted to present a poster (i.e. conference registration fee, travel, lodging, etc.).
  • This is a poster presentation only (i.e. no oral abstract presentations, poster discussions, etc.).

Confidentiality Policy: Study results should not be previously released in any public format, including but not limited to the press, presented at a conference, or published in a journal.

Prior Publication Policy: Only original abstracts accepted by the Abstract Review Committee will be published by JNCCN.  If abstracts are found to have been previously published, they will be disqualified.

Press Policy: NCCN must be notified before authors of accepted abstracts discuss their results with the press.

Withdrawal Policy: Accepted abstracts may be withdrawn up to Friday, March 17, 2017.
