NCCN is now accepting abstracts* for consideration to be presented during the NCCN 2020 Annual Conference General Poster Session at the Rosen Shingle Creek in Orlando, Florida on Friday, March 20 and Saturday, March 21, 2020. NCCN welcomes original abstracts from investigators in the general oncology community. Submissions will be accepted from academic institutions, teaching and community hospitals, or industry. Both NCCN and non-NCCN institutions may participate.

Research may fall into the general areas below:
  • Clinical Oncology (all phases)
  • Pre-Clinical Oncology
  • Epidemiology/Risks/Prevention
  • Correlative/Genomic
  • Best Practices in Implementation and Use of Clinical Practice Guidelines
  • Quality Improvement
  • Outcomes and Health Services Research
  • Bioinformatics/Information Technology Sciences

*Please note that the submission of abstracts that are essentially advertisements is discouraged.

Submission Requirements

Abstract Submission Deadline: Wednesday, October 23, 2019, 11:59 PM Eastern Standard Time (GMT -4 Hours)

Abstract Decision: Corresponding Authors will receive notification via e-mail in mid-December 2019.

The following must be completed during the submission process in order for your submission to be considered complete:

  • Credit card payment of the non-refundable administrative fee; you will receive an automatic confirmation email once completed. Please note, when submitting more than one abstract for consideration, you must pay the required administrative submission fee for each abstract submission. You will be asked how many abstracts you wish to submit during this process.
  • Upon successful completion of the payment step (adminstrative fee), you will receive an e-mail confirmation with instructions and a link to JNCCN Editorial Manager (JNCCNEM) system to create a personal account. Full contact information for the corresponding author must be provided in JNCCNEM when creating your account, as well as full contact information for the primary author, if separate.
  • You will be required to upload, review, and submit your abstract through the JNCCNEM system (JNCCNEM link and detailed instructions will be sent in your submission confirmation email). Confidential Disclosure and Copyright Permission Forms must be completed through JNCCNEM for ALL authors prior to final submission. If desired, you may log into JNCCNEM to make changes to your abstract at any time prior to your final submission. All steps must be completed by the deadline, Wednesday, October 23, 2019, 11:59 PM Eastern Standard Time (GMT -4 Hours) in order for your abstract to be considered.

General Abstract Guidelines:

  • Abstracts must be no longer than 2,500 characters including spaces and punctuation. However, it does not include the title of the abstract and the names of the co-authors or their affiliations. Tables or illustrations do not count toward the character limit.
  • Completed abstracts must be submitted through the JNCCNEM (a link will be provided in your confirmation e-mail that you will receive after completing the online submission and payment process).
  • Interim analysis for studies in progress will be considered; however, as with all abstracts, data analysis/summary must be included in the results section in order to support conclusions.
  • Study titles should be neutral and when referring to drug names, generic names should be used as applicable.
  • Abbreviations should only be used after first spelling out the words to be abbreviated within the abstract.
  • Authors may serve as first authors on up to two abstracts, but may be co-authors on an unlimited number of other abstract submissions.
  • If selected for the poster session, an electronic version of your poster must be submitted to by Friday, March 6, 2020.

Administrative Fee:

  • A $60.00 non-refundable administrative submission fee, payable by credit card (American Express, Discover, MasterCard, or Visa) during the submission process, will be applied to all abstracts. There is a discounted rate of $50.00 for authors from NCCN Member Institutions and the submission rate for fellows is $30.00. Please note that you must pay the required administrative fee for each abstract submission. You will be asked how many abstracts you wish to submit during this process.

Abstract Selection & Notification:

  • Abstracts will be reviewed by the NCCN Abstract Review Committee based on the following criteria:
    1. Scientific merit
    2. Topic relevance
    3. Methodological rigor
    4. Data analysis/summary
    5. Overall quality and clarity
  • Corresponding authors will be notified via e-mail regarding their abstract status in mid-December 2019.
  • All accepted original, previously unpublished* abstracts will be published on Select abstracts will also be published in print in JNCCN — Journal of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network.
  • A transfer of copyright to JNCCN is required for publication.*

*Only original abstracts accepted by the NCCN Abstract Review Committee will be published by JNCCN.  If abstracts are found to have been previously published, they will be disqualified.

NCCN 2020 Annual Conference Registration: 
If your abstract is selected for presentation, you must register for the NCCN 2020 Annual Conference.

  • No expenses related to the conference will be covered if accepted to present a poster (i.e. conference registration fee, travel, lodging, etc.). Please check for conference registration availability.
  • The Top 5 Abstracts selected by the NCCN Abstract Review Committee will have the opportunity to present their posters orally at the conference (date and time TBD). All other posters will only be displayed at the conference for discussion with conference attendees. Due to CE requirements industry poster submissions will not be eligible for oral presentation.

Confidentiality Policy:
Study results should not be previously released in any public format, including but not limited to the press, presented at a conference, or published in a journal.

Press Policy:
NCCN must be notified before authors of accepted abstracts discuss their results with the press.

Withdrawal Policy:
Accepted abstracts may be withdrawn up until Friday, March 6, 2020. Administrative fees are non-refundable.
