Thank you for your interest in the 2013 NHLBI Mitochondrial Biology Symposium: Mitochondrial Genetics in Health and Disease.
The third in a series of biennial conferences focusing on mitochondrial biology, it will be held May 6–7, 2013, at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. This symposium will build on the success of previous conferences. While the 2008 inaugural conference provided a broad overview of mitochondrial biology and its far-reaching impact in medicine, the 2011 conference focused on two specific areas of active research and debate: mitochondrial dynamics and mitochondrial communications.
The 2013 symposium will focus on the following: Mitochondria Genetics and Genomics, Mitochondria in Aging and Diseases and Therapeutics and Animal Models for Mitochondrial Diseases. This symposium will bring together the leading thinkers in these areas of research to present the newest findings. We envision these presentations will spark debate and foster collaborations among participants with the goal of filling existing gaps in knowledge and advancing this fast-moving field.
We hope you will join us in this goal and look forward to welcoming you in Bethesda in May 2013 for the NHLBI Mitochondrial Biology Symposium: Mitochondrial Genetics in Health and Disease.
