Resources for Successful Transition into Research Independence

The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) is convening its inaugural fellowship workshop in FY 2018 for all currently awarded National Ruth L. Kirschstein Service Award (NRSA) recipients which includes.

 F31s - Pre-doctoral Fellowships
 F30s – Dual degree Fellowships
 F32s – Post -doctoral Fellowships

The workshop will bring pre-doctoral, post-doctoral, and dual degree fellows to NIAID/NIH for a two-day workshop on NIAID’s scientific agenda, successful tips for writing career awards, introduction to the small business arena, NIH peer review process, mentoring, career opportunities, and advice on how to write a successful grant application, and NIH policy updates.

The workshop will be held on Wednesday 14 - Thursday 15, March 2018 at 5601 Fishers Lane, Rockville, Maryland 20892. The purpose of the workshop is to allow for the exchange of science; to impart information on applying for research project grants; to acquaint attendees with the opportunities and options open to them in the field of biomedical research; to receive feedback from NIAID F awardees on ways to improve our fellowship programs; and to provide an opportunity to network and interact with peers, and with NIAID/NIH staff members.

There are no registration fees associated with this training. However, all attendees are responsible for their own travel fares, hotel costs, and other expenses through their institution or group affiliation.
