This online course focuses on principles of general microbiology andhealth care applications for students pursuing careers in nursing andother allied health fields. Emphasis is on microbiological fundamentalsand control of microorganisms pertinent to the health carearena.Considerable attention is devoted to microorganisms and humandisease, specifically principles of disease and epidemiology,pathogenicity, and immunology. Various diseases are presented accordingto the host organ system most affected. Emerging topics in microbiologyare addressed along with their clinical application to health care.
