We’re working hard to finalize the full agenda of sessions and events. In the meantime, here's a preliminary program.
Science and education IT professionals find themselves at ground zero of a multi-faceted revolution. These hard-working, under-funded and tragically misunderstood professionals struggle to satisfy the diverse, changing and expanding needs of millions in an age of uncertainty.
Thornton May, an IT futurist, educator and author, will share results of a six-year, six-university, 600-organization study of what he calls Technology E.S.P. (Exploitation, Sharing and Protection] that focuses on maintaining positive momentum in the face of massive uncertainty. He’ll discuss what science and education IT professionals can do now to better prepare and position themselves to take full advantage of the future that will be.
The higher education regulatory landscape has brought major changes in a short time. Is your institution strategically sound enough to contend with compliance issues?
Along with meeting obligations under FERPA and HIPAA, today's CIOs must now contend with compliance issues for administrative systems governed by PCI, GLBA and other regulations. Mike Chapple, academic director of Notre Dame’s Business Analytics program, will discuss these and other regulatory challenges.
As the Higher Education landscape changes, so has the composition of our student bodies. Is your institution equipped to serve the ‘New Normal’ student? Guided by the U.S. Department of Education’s National Education Technology Plan, ‘Reimaging the Role of Technology in Higher Education,’ this session will explore design principles aimed at improving the probabilities of access and degree attainment. In addition, you’ll leave with specific examples of how these design principles are being applied at one university with the explicit intent of using data to drive action. You’ll also be invited to share your experiences and ideas on relevant applications of student-centered practices.
