Compassion. We all know it’s an important part of the therapeutic alliance. But recent advances in psychological research, theory and practice have suggested that compassion may be one of the most important processes in psychotherapeutic effectiveness.
How much compassion do we really show our clients? When we are trying to change them, is that compassionate? Even if we are working in acceptance-based and mindfulness-based modalities, are we really connecting with their experience and understanding it at a deep level?
Many don’t. But it isn’t from lack of trying. It’s from lack of training. You can train your compassionate mind. What’s more, you can help your clients learn to be more compassionate with themselves and the people in their lives, by systematically integrating the science of compassion into your practice.
The best part? You don’t have to fly halfway across the world to do it. We are bringing it right your computer screen.
Over the course of eight, two-hour, interactive, webinar-style sessions, you will explore how the science of compassion can be used to enhance and expand clinical work. This training is specifically designed to help Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and other behavior therapy practitioners deepen their understanding and practice of compassion focused treatment of anxiety and mood disorders.
This online workshop will take you on an experiential journey into the foundations of Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT). You will discover compassionate imagery, meditation practices, and how to apply them in exposure and behavioral activation. These methods can complement and strengthen even a state-of-the-art therapeutic approach.
Through small group work and a series of experiential exercises you will experience compassion first hand. And you will get to have your questions and concerns addressed by the top trainers in compassion focused therapy.
All sessions of this course will run on Mondays from 3:00pm to 5:00pm Eastern Time, USA.
