As the environment for Children’s Advocacy Centers continues to change, the demand for innovative management and governance is at a premium. Unique issues facing CAC managers and leaders include tensions between the organizational mission, programmatic impact, a dynamic funding environment, strategic partnerships and the challenges of part-time volunteers as board members and advisers providing governance, oversight, and leadership. This institute begins by exploring organizational assessment and planning strategies, moving into the role of boards and the occasional challenging board members. From there, we will examine how program evaluation will help your organization stand out and strategies to address the leadership challenges within your organization. Finally, we will examine organizational change management strategies and their implications on a personal and leadership level. Throughout, we will examine real world examples and review the theories and practice that apply to them. This training is intended for executive directors (or like title) of a Children’s Advocacy Center or NCA Chapters who are seeking to gain a better understanding of nonprofit management, board development, strategic planning and evaluation. Professionals in other management roles, such as program coordinator, are welcome to participate.
