What is Osher@Mizzou?

Osher@Mizzou is a lifelong learning program that provides a variety of non-credit classes and other educational, cultural and social opportunities designed for individuals age 50 and over. Join Osher and take part in thoughtful interactions about topics of interest to you, all for the joy of learning.

What are classes like at Osher@Mizzou?

Classes are relaxed and informal and meet once per week online via the secure Zoom platform. These are synchronous offerings, meaning that your instructor and classmates will meet you, live in the Zoom meeting, each week.

There will be opportunities to interact with your instructors and classmates during Q&A periods and occasionally in smaller break-out sessions. Use the navigation links on the left to find exact dates and meeting times for our winter offerings.

What are my options for registering for classes?

If you register as a Premium member, you pay $200 and may take unlimited classes during the winter semester and for the two remaining semesters of the academic year. What a bargain! Or you may pay by the class as a Semester member. If you choose this option, one four-week class costs $60 ($20 semester fee, plus $40 course fee). Why Zoom with Osher this winter?

Although in-person meetings are currently suspended, you may still take Osher classes online and connect with your instructors, colleagues and friends, all from the comfort of your own home.

If you are new to Zoom, don’t worry! The Osher staff and interns are ready and willing to help troubleshoot whatever issues you may encounter.

Please refer to the Zoom Tips on our website (osher.missouri.edu) for some excellent advice. Also, join us for one of the informal Zoom Drop-in Trial sessions, where you may chat with the Osher staff and ask questions in a stress-free environment:

• Thursday, Jan. 7: 10 a.m. to noon.

How to Register

Please register online, if at all possible. Full step- by-step instructions are below.

If you have not registered online before and would like guidance, the Osher staff will be available to assist you over the phone, via email or via the Zoom application. To arrange a time to work with Walker or Jennifer, email osher@missouri.edu.

If you are unable to complete an online registration or do not have access to a credit or debit card, please email osher@missouri.edu or call (573) 882-8189.

The Osher staff will assist you and come up with accommodations so that you may register for classes.

Please note: The Osher program will not be offering walk-in registration for the Winter 2021 semester. There are no in-person meetings taking place for the Osher program at this time.

Getting Started

Osher Members Who Have Registered Online Before:

You will need your log-in ID (which is the email address you used to register) and your password. If you cannot remember your password, click the “Forgot Your Password” link. If you are a returning premium member who will be re-enrolling for $10, you will be receiving an email with a discount code to unlock the $10 fee.

People Who Have Not Registered Online Before:

• Make sure you know your email address – this will be your login ID.
• Please create and have ready your own, secure password for use this semester and in the future. (Passwords should be eight characters or more and include letters, numbers and a symbol (*, #, $ or !). We recommend that you write down your password and save it in a safe spot in your home.)
