PLENARY SESSION 1: Political leadership in uncertain times

Plenary 1 on “Political leadership in uncertain times” aims to provide context for the two-day Forum. It will also introduce the Forum themes of multi-sectoral action, accountability, and partnerships, which are underpinned by political leadership. The session will be grounded in the spirit of transformational progress, aimed at mobilizing improvements in quality of, and access to, healthcare at every life stage for women, children, and adolescents.

  • 12 December | 14:30 – 16:00 IST
PLENARY SESSION 2: Multisectoral collaboration: from rhetoric to reality

The SDGs reemphasize how critical multisectoral collaboration is for health and sustainable development goals. But when and how is multisectoral collaboration most effective, and what factors enable it to contribute to transformative change? This plenary will explore these vital questions and provide fresh insight into how partners work better together across sectors to achieve shared goals. The plenary will launch a new supplement published by The BMJ showcasing multisectoral collaborations working across the six Every Woman Every Child (EWEC) priority areas. Selected from more than 300 responses to a global call in late 2017, the resulting country case studies and synthesis paper reflect engagement with 500 partners across diverse countries.

  • 13 December | 09:00 – 10:30 IST
PLENARY SESSION 3: Accountability for action

The Accountability Plenary Session aims to explore which areas need most attention to make the greatest advances in accountability, from generating more and better data to identifying and monitoring who has been left behind to using social media and other approaches to galvanize transparency, review and remedial action among all stakeholders. The Accountability Plenary Session will also launch the "Survive and Thrive: Transforming Care for Every Small and Sick Newborn".

  • 13 December | 13:30 – 15:00 IST
PLENARY SESSION 4: The power of partnership: working better and smarter together

As the final plenary, this session aims to tie the various threads and themes of the full Partners’ Forum together, highlighting concrete ideas and solutions for how partnerships can accelerate action for the specific workstreams of the EWEC strategy. The plenary session will showcase successful partnerships by describing challenges, strengths, and best practices, while focusing on analyzing key components for success. This plenary will provide insight into how, in the SDG era, we can sustain, catalyze, and upscale successful models of partnership.

  • 13 December | 16:45 – 18:00 IST
    CLOSING CEREMONY

The closing ceremony will include reading of key messages from the Partners’ Forum communiqué which is a distillation of the deliberations during the Partners’ Forum, the ministerial and parliamentarian conclaves.
