director of pre-doctoral periodontics in the department of general dentistry at Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine and maintains a private practice in Brookline, MA.

Sheldon J. Itzkowitz, DDS,
assistant clinical professor in the departments of general dentistry and periodontology at Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine and maintains a private practice in Attleboro, MA.
 
This course will involve the etiology and diagnosis of periodontal diseases and non surgical and surgical procedures to treat and correct periodontal conditions.  It will focus on the replacement of missing teeth with dental implants, with bone and soft tissue grafting procedures to prepare sites for implant therapy.
 
Learning Objectives:
  • Understand surgical instrument armamentarium in preparation for various procedures
  • Learn how to prepare patients pre-surgically (with respect to premedication)
  • Understand follow up care with post-operative instructions and future care of the surgical site
  • Address post-operative complications
  • Become familiar with various surgical instruments and set-ups
