Program Summary McGill University and John Abbott College are pleased to invite you to participate in the Periodontal Symposium “Optimizing Teamwork and Enhancing Patient Care”. This joint program offers a two-day learning opportunity consisting of an interdisciplinary general session on Day 1, followed by a scaling and root planning (Sc/RP) hands-on workshop on patients on Day 2. Day 1 Join us for a highly interactive and engaging session addressing common periodontal conditions and behavioral challenges facing the dental team.
Topics include: - Approaches to data collection in periodontal assessment - Diagnosis and treatment planning-recognizing and addressing common periodontal diseases - Uses and applications of various periodontal therapies – Implementing treatment - Role of contributing factors and periodontal maintenance protocols - Cost factors - Patient and staff satisfaction Day 2 - Current Quebec License Required The fundamentals of scaling and root planing will be briefly reviewed followed by a hands-on patient-based Sc/RP workshop that will provide you with the unique opportunity to refine your clinical skills in treating patients with moderate to advanced periodontal disease under the close supervision of highly-skilled demonstrators. The program is sure to inspire you and to provide pertinent information to everyday clinical practice. This is an educational opportunity not to be missed by the entire oral-healthcare team including dentists, dental hygienists and dental assistants. **PLEASE NOTE**: - PARTICIPANTS MUST BRING THEIR OWN PATIENTS FOR THE NOV 9TH WORKSHOP. - PATIENTS MUST HAVE AT LEAST 6 REMAINING TEETH WITH PROBING DEPTHS OF ≥5mm. - PARTICIPANTS SHOULD PROVIDE A CURRENT MEDICAL HISTORY OF THE PATIENT DENTISTS MAY CHOOSE TO BRING A COLLEAGUE OR TEAM MEMBER TO WORK ON THE SAME PATIENT.
