PICH2GO is an exciting new series of educational and networking events co-hosted by Pain in Child Health (PICH) and local children’s hospitals. Over the course of two days, PICH2GO Toronto will provide its attendees with diverse and engaging education and networking opportunities to further pediatric pain clinical practice and research. It is our goal to engage, empower, and educate families, trainees, clinicians, researchers, and policy makers to make the world a less painful place for kids!
Our first events are on November 9, 2016. The Coping Circus will invite local trainees to work with hospital clinicians and researchers to disseminate evidence based practices to patients and families. Join us later that evening for our Researcher Networking Dinner at the Chelsea Hotel for all PICH trainees and faculty, and a workshop on powerful speaking for scientists.
PICH2GO’s final events are on November 10, 2016. First will be the Conquering the Hurt Conference followed by the “Art From the Heart” ACHH (Aboriginal Children’s Hurt and Healing) Exhibit. These final events are located in the Peter Gilgan Centre for Research and Learning.

Day 2 of PICH2GO Toronto features Conquering the Hurt, the bi-annual Pain conference hosted at SickKids. This year’s conference is all about the intersection of Body, Mind and Spirit in pain. This theme recognizes the complexity of the experience of pain and pain management, and acknowledges the biopsychosocial aspects of pain. Conquering the Hurt will focus on the challenges of assessment and management from this foundational perspective. The conference will feature key note speakers Dr. Stefan Friedrichsdorf, MD, FAAP, Medical Director, Department of Pain Medicine, Palliative Care & Integrative Medicine, Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota and Dr. Margot Latimer, R.N, Ph.D., Associate Professor at Dalhousie University, with Mr. John R. Sylliboy.

Directly following the Conquering the Hurt Confernce, PICH2GO is excited to host the Aboriginal Children’s Hurt and Healing Initative's (ACCH) "Art from the Heart" Exhibit– our final event! Aboriginal children have a higher incidence of pain rate than do non-Aboriginal children. ACHH’s gallery emerged from research aiming to understanding how Aboriginal children experience, perceive and communicate their pain to others and highlights these unique and under recognized expressions of pain. The ACHH exhibit will feature a small presentation by Dr. Margot Latimer (PI of ACHH) and Mr. John R. Sylliboy (ACHH Community Research Project Coordinator) and will be followed by opportunities for individual discussion. Refreshments will be provided.
