Planned Giving Forum of Greater Sacramento Mentorship Program

Summary

Announcing the New Planned Giving Mentoring Program!
The Mentoring Program matches members who are new to planned giving with experienced professionals.

This program is a benefit for members of the local chapter of the Planned Giving Forum of Greater Sacramento. Our goal is to support development professionals who are currently engaged in some level of planned giving on behalf of their organization.

Here’s how to get involved:
• Click here to complete the application to help us understand your needs.
• Please apply by October 1, 2017 to be considered for the 2018 mentorship
cycle.
• We will match you with a seasoned professional whose experience matches your
interests.
• If you would like to have a mentor and be considered for the program, but are
not a current member of PGFGS, please click here to join.

Once matched with a mentor, mentees agree to:
• Make the first contact with your mentor and take the lead in scheduling up to
four meetings over a twelve-month period.
• Clearly articulate your professional and organization’s needs and develop the
agenda for each meeting.
• Fill out a post-mentorship evaluation to help us make this program even more
useful for future mentees.

Mentors agree to:
• Participate in up to four mentoring sessions with your mentee during the year.
• Be available by phone or email as a resource for quick questions from your
mentee about a planned giving opportunity.
• Optional:
- Present a planned giving case study at a PGFGS session to give members
practice in creating solutions for charitable opportunities.
- Participate in a PGFGS mentor panel.

For questions and to submit the completed application, please contact John Koch, Mentoring Chair at jfkoch@ucdavis.edu.
