The Design Imperative: How Experience Defines Your Brand
We live in a world where, increasingly, the experience we have with products, bottle closures and structures are becoming the strongest definition of a brand's promise. If the act of opening, closing and dispensing is in alignment with the perception of the brand, that’s when powerful relationships between consumer and the brand begin and continue. Consequently, in the design of these "consumer touch points," it has become essential to get it right. Mark Dziersk, head of consumer design at LUNAR | Mckinsey will present this idea, using examples drawing from a 20 + year career in creating well-designed consumer packages and products.

Closure Production Improvements and an Integrated Systems Approach
When dealing with the injection molding process for beverage and specialty closures an integrated system approach can yield significant benefits – improving productivity, repeatability, part-performance consistency, energy efficiency and ease of use. Through the development of a smart, integrated system, all of the sub-systems (machine, mold, hot runner, automation) can be more tightly controlled. Bringing intelligence into the system also allows for better communication among all components, resulting in a more streamlined operation. This presentation will explain how an integrated system approach to molding beverage and specialty closures can result in significant production improvements. We will demonstrate the rationale behind Husky’s latest innovative technologies for both beverage and specialty closures, and the benefits when applied to specific applications.

XO Resealable Can: A Case Study on Innovative Multi-Component Mold Technology
Three years ago, z-moulds made a cube mold with its patented z-cube® technology for a 2-component part used in a re-sealable can closure. The closure itself was brand new on the market and since then the market shares of this innovative closure solution have grown consistently. Nowadays, the need exists to increase the production output with additional molds. The aim is not only to multiply the output by additional systems but to be more effective overall. The main two drivers for reaching a higher efficiency are faster cycle times and less complexity of the technology itself and therefore less downtime for maintenance. z-moulds will unveil an innovative new concept that reaches both targets. The complexity was reduced by changing the system from a cube mold technology to a standard single-face mold with injection of both materials from the same hot half and the cycle time was reduced by more than 25 percent. The overall efficiency reached a new level by increasing output and decreasing downtime for maintenance. The new solution is now under patent.
