Penn State Extension's Online Pond Home Study Course is a six-session class distributed over 12 weeks that will help you understand the basics of pond management. Participants will cover pond assessment, pond maintenance, aquatic plants and algae, fisheries management, attracting and managing wildlife, and pond management case studies. Each lesson contains reading reference material, a PowerPoint with audio instruction, and a worksheet designed to help students interact with pond experts about their individual pond. This course does not cover pond construction details and is designed for ponds 1/4-acre or larger in size - not ornamental, backyard ponds.
This course has already been taught to over 100 pond owners. The course was rebuilt in 2012 and is now ready for re-release!
