Post-Secondary Education SIG – Content Strategy Goes to College

  • You've seen it before... Your institution rolls out a new communication tool– perhaps a website platform, an intranet, or events calendar– to its staff, without developing a proper content strategy or documenting a clear governance model. The result: low adoption and lukewarm enthusiasm. Sound familiar? Sometimes uniting disparate areas around common goals can feel like herding cats.

  • In the digital age, communicators are absolutely vital to this process. Your participation can transform university/college culture and position business needs and audience expectations at the heart of technology decisions.

  • Come and share your ideas on how to position yourself at the crossroads of leadership, I.T., end users and audiences to set the tone for a successful technology roll out, one that is informed by an integrated content strategy, and driven by inclusive consultation, digital analytics and audience input.

  • This session's special guests are Denise Leech and Adam Brayford from SFU. Denise Leech is passionate about helping organizations integrate digital into their communications strategies. She has worked as a communications strategist with a specialty in digital for more than 15 years in sectors including forestry, health and education. A 3-time Gold Quill winner, Denise is senior director of University Communications at Simon Fraser University where she manages the internal and external communications functions and the talented teams that make it all happen.

  • Adam Brayford is Assistant Director of Digital Communications at Simon Fraser University, where he develops user-centered channel strategies, oversees editorial planning and advises internal clients. A Bronze Quill, Chapter Management Award, Wave Award, CPRS National Award and 3-time Gold Quill winner, he's a sucker for creative solutions that make meaningful impact. He's had the pleasure of serving as a Blue Ribbon panel evaluator and chapter board member. He also battles a Netflix addiction.
