This in-depth, experiential workshop, originally developed by an NTL affiliated group of Stanford University professors, is designed to help you enhance your organizational position and trajectory, increase your personal impact, learn how to manage power dynamics more effectively, and avoid being derailed in your career. It is comprised of a series of learning sessions focused on leveraging power roles for optimal self-awareness and goal-attaining results. These sessions include, yet are not limited to:
Power Strategies: The Building Blocks of Power—In this session, the focus is on four central strategies: BUILDING the professional and personal brand you want to be known for, DEFINING the domain you aspire to inhabit, CLARIFYING the life vision you have for yourself, and CULTIVATING and LEVERAGING your network and social capital to achieve your goals.
Power Stances: Below the Surface of Power—Realize what it feels like to “small ourselves” or “be too big for our own good.” Learn how people behave, think and feel when occupying these different psychological power stances toward the world. In this session, you will apply our model of Power In Action to your own experiences and deeply held beliefs about what it means to have power, examining how these beliefs influence the ways in which you behave with others.
System Power: The Haves and The Have Nots—In this session, through the experience of a compelling competitive power simulation, we will explore the dynamics of hierarchy and differentiated access to resources, and how to position oneself powerfully in the face of these profound disparities in organizational and community life.
