Practice Institute: Advanced Practice Skills Workshop

Attend one or both of the workshops. All supplies provided including synthetic skin. Attend both workshops for 13.25 total ANCC hours or 13.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.

Workshop 1: Suturing and Biopsy Skills
Date and Time: Monday, August 7, 2017 9 A.M. - 12 P.M.

Program description:

Haven’t used your suturing skills much lately? Would you like more practice with lacerations and advanced wound closure techniques? Join us for this three-hour workshop that is designed for health care providers at all skill levels. You will have an opportunity to learn, refresh and practice your basic suturing, biopsy and incision and drainage skills as well as learning and practicing advanced wound closures with hands-on guidance from experienced health care providers.

Registration will include practice materials for use during the workshop. Participants will complete a didactic module online prior to coming to the in-person session to maximize hands-on practice time. Over the course of this practice time, you will learn to choose your materials, perform digital nerve blocks, simple interrupted suturing, mattress suturing, advanced closures, incision and drainage, and punch biopsy techniques.

Workshop 2: Joint and Soft Tissue Injection Skills
Date and Time: Friday, August 11, 2017, 9 A.M. - 12 P.M.

Program description:

Save your patients pain, time, and money by adding joint and soft tissue injection skills to your practice. This workshop will introduce APRNs, MDs and PAs to the basics necessary to safely and effectively relieve pain using joint and soft tissue injections. We will cover appropriate indications for arthritis, bursitis and tendinopathies associated with overuse injuries with an emphasis on common conditions in primary care. Using the latest available joint models, participants will practice their new skills with the assistance of experienced practitioners.
Participants will have an online lecture to watch and online articles to read prior to coming to the lab on August 11th. You will be granted access to the online resources on Friday, August 4th, provided full payment has been received. No refund will be made after close of business Tuesday, August 1st.
