New overtime regulations were finalized in May of 2016 and will take effect December 1, 2016. These new regulations, among other things, set the minimum salary threshold for an employee to be exempt from Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) minimum wage and overtime regulations at $913 per week or $47,476 annually. This is just over double the current threshold of $455 per week, or $23,660 annually.
This change will affect 4.2 million workers, who may be newly eligible for overtime, and employers must be ready for that. The first step is to make sure that positions are properly classified to be exempt. The next step is to determine the best path forward, taking into consideration both the organization’s budget and operations, and the employee’s well-being. This presentation will give you information and a step-by-step process to assure compliance when the new regulations take effect.
All sessions will be led by Sandra Villegas of Associated Employers, a not-for-profit voluntary employers' association that provides information services on promoting and maintaining positive employer-employee relationships.
The webinars - on 10/27 and 11/3 - are each one hour long. Registration closes the Tuesday before each webinar and you will receive an email with the log-in instructions one to two days prior to the webinar.
