Preparing for the new Standards - Port Augusta - 16 July 2019

Overview

Preparing for the Standards - half day workshops

The Preparing for the Standard state events included a half-day workshop in the program. Due to popular demand we have scheduled some additional standalone workshops in each State.

These workshops are activity based and designed to support participants to understand and apply the Standards.  During the workshop you will have the opportunity to practice applying them in relation to individual consumer circumstances and service issues. In doing so you will consider what the consumer outcome focus means for aged care service providers.

Aim

This workshop is designed to provide you with the knowledge, skills and practical experience to prepare your service for quality assessment against the new Standards. Awareness of the eight new Standards is assumed, however no further pre-requisite knowledge is required.

This workshop is not intended to give you a detailed knowledge of every requirement in the Standards. It is also not a comprehensive guide to quality assessment under the new Standards.

Learning outcomes

Through active participation in this workshop you will:

  • understand the consumer outcomes focus of the Standards;
  • be able to recognise ways in which your organisation's practices align with consumer outcomes focus of the Standards;
  • be able to recognise areas where your organisation may need to change policies and practices to align with the consumer outcomes focus of the Standards;
  • be able to provide leadership and direction to find information, advice or resources to help your organisation to meet the Standards; and
  • understand the importance, structure and approach of the Guidance and Resources, and their role in supporting aged care providers to deliver consumer-centred quality care.
