Process Safety Management Conference 2019

Importance of strong leadership in the drive for safe operations

In an uncertain macroeconomic environment and an industry with significant production and geographical-related complexity, coupled with the relentless development of digital technologies, how does our sector continue to improve process safety and keep it at the top of the agenda? The answer has to begin with strong leadership and this strong leadership has to be from the board level down.

The Conference
The conference is organised in conjunction with the Chemical Industries Association (CIA) and features key industry guest speakers who will present their views on the sector’s challenges and their experience. It will concentrate on the importance of strong leadership from the board level down and throughout the organisation, with a particular focus around leadership during the evolution of digital technologies, as well as during changing
ownership strategies. It will also address how operators of high hazard plant continue to improve their processes and use of tools, to support analysis, decision making and communication. How does an organisation develop systems which can be utilised world-wide? Are there new ways to use technology and advanced software / tools to ensure effective process safety?

Do we have the right:
− Policies, procedures and practices
− Risk assessment techniques
− Performance indicators
− Behaviours and leadership
− Tools

The conference will:

-Discuss and emphasise the importance of safety leadership and culture in delivering an effective PSM system
-Provide operator experiences of delivering world class PSM programmes
-Highlight experiences of developing a structured PSM suite of management and technical procedures
-Highlight the importance of human factors and the impact of managing successful safety culture

Conference dinner
The optional complimentary dinner is open to all delegates attending the main PSM conference. Held on the evening before, 6th November, it is an opportunity to meet the speakers and other delegates in a more informal atmosphere.

This year we will be running our pre-conference workshop in conjunction with the Energy Institute (EI). The focus of the workshop will be to examine how human performance should be integrated into a typical safety management system and will analyse the 20 elements of the EI PSM framework for Process Safety Management, in order to understand how this is being managed and where in the system this should be covered.

The workshop will be limited to 50 places and will typically be allocated on a first-come first served basis, but we reserve the right to limit numbers from any one company / location for fairness. The main issues coming from this session will be discussed in a Q&A panel during the main conference. For further details please Click Here!
