Seabirds in a Changing Pacific

Ensuring a Future, Fighting the Plastic

The Pacific Seabird Group is pleased to announce the 46th Annual Meeting to be held at the Aqua Kauai Beach Resort in Kauai, Hawaii, USA from 27 Feb to 2 Mar 2019.

Kauai is much more than just a beach destination (although we have some of the best beaches in the world, including the unmissable Polihale): This is a great place to tick off some birding rarities. Kauai is home to the endemic Newell's Shearwater and Hawaiian Petrel (although both will be far out to sea at this time of year!), among other seabirds. There's also a chance to see our endemic forest birds on the miles of trails in the rainforests of Kokee.

The Na Pali coastline is spectacular to see by boat and the verdant interior of the island has inspired dozens of movies. There's also some fun adventures to be had, from snorkeling, zip-lining, tubing, ATVs, horse-riding, surfing, camping, paddle-boarding and swimming. Check out our field trips to book some of the activities that we have arranged exclusively for conference delegates and their guests.

Getting to Kauai is easier than ever before. There are now direct flights from several major US cities or you can fly to Oahu and take a hopper flight to Kauai with Hawaiian Airlines.

We are in the process of arranging the scientific program, which will be jam packed with cutting edge technology and research that pushes the boundaries. We encourage participants to stay connected by following and including the meeting hashtag (#PSG2019) in social media posts. We're a small island with a close knit community and we are looking forward to welcoming you and answering any questions you might have. Aloha!
